The last time I attended a Keith Urban concert, it was all by my lonesome becase appearently Los Angeles’s country music fans has a shortage in number. BooO! But this time, I dragged the boyfriend along and promised him it will change his life. Ok, I don’t actually know if it changed his life, but it was still amazing, and he even said so himself – long after the concert was over with.

.. it isn’t comparable to a DD’s Coolatta, but it will do for now.

This weekend was one of those events that deserve a spot in my bucket list for its life changing effect. Hoai, the dogs and I decided to visit Thi & Jayden for the weekend – but in celebration of Earth Day, we all took a mini road trip to Yosemite National Forest. Like all other things in life, Yosemite has been something we keep saying we will eventually do and like most things we plan, it took a little effort but we made it.

I read online somewhere that Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I’ve yet to see the whole world but I highly believe that this statement is true. It was indeed a beautiful place – so beautiful that I lost myself amongst my surroundings.

It’s amazing how massive Yosemite really is. We saw a waterfall from afar and were mesmerized by its sight to find out later that it was only one of the many that flows into the rivers of Yosemite. The trees were so tall and the mountains were huge. The sights were so powerful that it could cure even the most suicidal person. They were so breathtaking that it makes you want to leave life as you know it to fall asleep under the sky. We even got up close to one waterfall as it drenched us with splashes of water that bounced off the bed of rocks we stood upon. This was how I sometimes would imagine life to be – life in its simplest form. I wanted to sleep underneath the stars, right beside a river that flows through mountains to give life to a surrounding full of life. I wanted to sit in between the mountains as it tells stories of those who have passed by with the trees being their witness. We even had a picnic with the mountains as our backdrop – everything was sort of surreal.

Then as day approached evening – I found myself a little sadden to watch the mountains disappear behind me. I didn’t want to go back to the noisy city with the busy streets. I didn’t want to go back to the world that revolves around money, power and politics. I didn’t want to go back to a life of consumption– usually at the cost of nature’s miracles. I didn’t want to go back to life as I know it. I wanted to stay in the forest – a simple life – with the dogs, content with nature’s beauty in my backyard. I wanted to live like Pocahontas.

But then I was welcome back to reality by the high cost of gas and traffic lights.

But as my warm shower reminded me that it will become nonexistent in a forest, I think I would give it all up – just to live a little – because for the first time in a very long time, I felt alive. So alive that I think for a slight second – I believed I was Pocahontas. Therefore, I left my soul at Yosemite – just so I have an excuse to go back for it.

The idea is to encourage people to learn how to grow with the planet, not against it therefore eliminating as much paper waste as we possible can. The name came to me when I thought about the circle of life – if there are no trees, there will be no birds and if there are no birds, there won’t be any hummingbirds in love and so 2hummingbirdsinlove.com was born on April 22, 2010, Earth Day. The circle of life is far more bigger than just trees and birds. We are part of the circle of life and when we create an unsustainable planet for ourselves, we create an unsustainable planet for all other living things. Right now I am only working on coffee sleeves but I’m excited to start the next project – whatever that may be!

So, Hoai took my sleeves and put them at the Cafe. In celebration of earth day, we even decided to donate 10% to saving Lonesome George from going extinct. It’s almost 7pm, and I know one was given away – hopefully it was a good day. =)

All that aside.

It’s is Earth Day. Ride a bike! Hug a tree! Or just sit outside and breathe deep – even if it is just another day in helLA.

But readjusting to the circumstances has proven to bring forth amazing things.

for now, at least.

Change is scary.  Yet, I find myself seeking what I fear most.  It’s the element of surprise – an element that sums me up in three words. And with all the repetition I’ve had to face lately, I yearn for change more than anything. Conversations have become dull because life is the same ‘ol, same ‘ol. Solution? Maybe it’s time to pack up and move. Destination? Unknown.  I do hope that whatever happens from here on out will make sense.
